Popis

The United Nations identified quality education as the key to prosperity, growth and global transformation within the framework of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. That is also why it is very good news that Bratislava has become a member of the prestigious UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. UNESCO's global network of learning cities currently consists of 356 cities from 79 countries around the world, which support informal educational activities, the concept of lifelong learning, teaching in families/communities and at the workplace. Inclusion in the UNESCO network of learning cities is a significant success for the city.

In this context, we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming Conference on Learning Cities, which will be held on October 18, 2024 in the Hall of Mirrors of the Primate's Palace in Bratislava.

Speakers from the European Association for the Education of Adults, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and the European Universities Continuing Education Network will be invited.

The representative of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic and the President of the Association of Adult Education Institutions will present the new law on adult education, which should enter into force in January 2025. The conference will also include networking of relevant actors in the field of adult education and a panel discussion on the role of self-government in supporting lifelong learning.
